πŸ‘»πŸŒΈ 88 percent of all men receive flowers for the first time at their funeral.

⚘️ I am 38 years old and have only received flowers (made of plastic) once. I am very open about my preference for flowers.

πŸ¦‹βœ¨οΈ I really try hard to be seen, and yet I am mostly reduced to superficialities. If I even show myself vulnerable, I should almost be grateful not to be sanctioned.

πŸ«‘πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ–Ό This is also evident in my posts. Compliments often concern the object depicted (beautiful flower, great sunset, nice body) but rarely the manner of depiction, let alone the meta-level of what is depicted.

πŸ§ πŸ’―βœŒοΈ By the way, I received my acceptance yesterday after passing my entrance exam!

βš™οΈπŸ”’πŸŽ¨ That's another point: artistic talent and mathematical-technical understanding are often seen as irreconcilable opposites, even though there are sufficient examples of compatibility, both historically and in contemporary terms.

πŸŒˆπŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ¨πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’»πŸ’ As a media designer and computer scientist, I can do both, and over the next few years I will be deepening my mathematical understanding.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ«πŸ‘ΎπŸ‘©β€πŸ« Computer science and mathematics, by the way, are still male-dominated fields. Mainly because women are often not trusted or encouraged to do so. However, the first person to write a computer program was a woman. Ada Lovelace (1815-1852) was a British mathematician and socialite. She was the daughter of the poet Lord Byron.

πŸŽπŸ§©πŸ’¬ By the way, 70 percent of my followers are women. I've posted quite a few things that women could have commented on, because they concern issues that are, or should be, important to women as well.

🌱 Just saying.

Yesterday, I had to run some errands for my entrance exam for my mathematics and technical education program. On the way home, an inner urge led me to the cemetery where some of my ancestors are buried. I cleared the grave of fallen branches and reflected on the passage of time. These Higan cherries were blooming beautifully in the cemetery. Higan, ε½Όε²Έ, means "distant shore". I have my exam tomorrow. It will take place at an address on a street named after my great-grandfather, the Hilpertstrasse in Darmstadt. He was a politician who is buried in this cemetery.

🌸πŸͺ»πŸŒž Heather (Calluna vulgaris) blooms from late summer to autumn. How wonderful that we have a heath in Oberursel where I can admire this beautiful flower!

🏰🌾 The Stierstadt Heath, covering 3.2 hectares, has existed since the Middle Ages. The inhabitants of that time cleared the area and used the humus to fertilize their fields. This created the barren soil in which heather grows very well.

🌼🐝 The large shaggy bee (Panurgus banksianus) is noticeable because of its big mandibles. For this reason, it can easily be mistaken for a leafcutter bee (Megachile). However, the large shaggy bee is completely black, while dark leafcutter bee species have lighter and much more hair. In addition, shaggy bees collect pollen on their legs, while leafcutter bees collect it on their belly. In Germany, there are three species of shaggy bees, and the large shaggy bee is the biggest of them. Their nests are built in sandy soil or loess, often in larger groups, typically on slopes, unpaved paths, in sand and clay pits, or at the edges of forests. They prefer yellow flowers, such as this water ragwort (Jacobaea aquatica), discovered on a wet meadow near the StierstÀdter swamp.

🌸⭐️ This is my 1000th post! ⭐️🌸
Let’s celebrate with something beautiful!

🩷 I photographed this pink (Dianthus species) in June. I sometimes think of this flower because I find it particularly beautiful. It is delicate in growth, yet vibrant in color. Incidentally, the color of the same name was named after this flower. This makes this flower the greatest influencer in the world.

🀯 What do 1,000 posts actually mean? That's (including this post) 1,662 photos and videos. Each one was edited, sometimes for hours. Each post conveys thoughts and feelings. I often spent hours researching, sometimes even days. Some posts have reached several thousand people.

🀩 I have every right to be proud of this. Overall, I've reached at least half a million people since February 2019. Among my followers are well-known artists, lesser-known artists, journalists, writers, musicians, museums, and zoos.

πŸ’« My number of followers isn't exorbitantly huge, but I have a rough idea of who these people are and that my work is being followed with interest.

πŸ€— Many perfectly normal and incredibly lovely people, but they are very special to me – because we participate in this shared experience together!

πŸ“ŠπŸŒΏ Even though interactions have plummeted, I still see your faces regularly in the story views. In the last 30 days, there have been 41,700 views (stories and posts). This shows me that the mega ground sloth is far from extinct, at least here.

πŸ₯°πŸ˜˜ Thank you so much! 🌸🩷

πŸ˜΅πŸ€›πŸ¦  I haven't had a stye since I was a child, and now I look like I've been given a black eye. Two styes right next to each other, inside.

I look like Two-Face: One side like a sinister character, and the other side like the cuddly sloth everyone loves.

But they have already burst, and the swelling is going down. ✌️

Anger performs better – why platforms like Threads reward anger

πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« On text-based platforms like Threads, it's particularly clear: Those who are loud are heard. Those who evoke emotion are rewarded. And those who express anger generate reach.

🀯 This is less due to ill will – but rather to the algorithms. They optimize for engagement, not quality. The more people comment, discuss, or get upset, the more visible the post becomes. Anger clicks. Polarization works. And the platform grows with it.

😡 The result: The ripcord is getting shorter and shorter. Differentiation is losing relevance. What counts is the impact of the emotion – not the substance of the statement.

🀐 This isn't just a problem for the culture of discussion. It's also changing how we think and speak – public discourse is becoming a stimulus-response machine. Those who remain silent disappear. Those who speak loudly win.

❓️ The question is: Do we really want this?

🧐 I'm 38 years old. I'm an adult. I often see posts where I'd like to contribute something because I find some of the topics very relevant. But then I see people insulting each other like they're in kindergarten. I don't want to be insulted and abused just because my statement isn't good enough or doesn't fit into someone's narrative. I don't want to look at my phone and be confronted with aggression there. I also don't want to constantly wait for something like that to happen. Everyone loses their temper at some point, but it shouldn't be so normalized.

πŸ’ In my opinion, anyone who constantly becomes abusive because someone expresses an unpleasant opinion has a major problem with their own emotional regulation. For me, since I have ADHD, the topic of emotional regulation is very important. I've invested many years in therapy and don't want to be constantly bombarded with such immature behavior.

πŸ•Š Pull yourselves together! ✌️

🌸 A cuckoo flower (Cardamine pratensis) by a small stream.

πŸ₯° This delicate flower thrives in moist meadows but struggles in waterlogged or swampy ground. The nearby stream emerges from a swamp, yet the cuckoo flower prefers drier margins with consistent moisture rather than standing water.

🌾 Although cuckoo flowers are still widespread across the Northern Hemisphere, their reliance on wet meadows - a habitat type increasingly under threat - makes them vulnerable. This shows that even common species can become endangered when their specialized habitats disappear.

🧐 Many people assume that a species’ widespread presence automatically means it’s safe or not at risk, but the reality is more nuanced. Even common species can be vulnerable if they depend on specific habitat conditions that are shrinking or changing due to factors like urbanization, climate change, or agricultural practices.
