🌸 A cuckoo flower (Cardamine pratensis) by a small stream.
🥰 This delicate flower thrives in moist meadows but struggles in waterlogged or swampy ground. The nearby stream emerges from a swamp, yet the cuckoo flower prefers drier margins with consistent moisture rather than standing water.
🌾 Although cuckoo flowers are still widespread across the Northern Hemisphere, their reliance on wet meadows - a habitat type increasingly under threat - makes them vulnerable. This shows that even common species can become endangered when their specialized habitats disappear.
🧐 Many people assume that a species’ widespread presence automatically means it’s safe or not at risk, but the reality is more nuanced. Even common species can be vulnerable if they depend on specific habitat conditions that are shrinking or changing due to factors like urbanization, climate change, or agricultural practices.

😅✌️🏃♂️ Slowly, satisfaction creeps into my post-run face.
Today was my 11th run this year. The distance has doubled since I started, but I'm still far from the fitness I had five years ago. Back then, I ran 10 km every two days. Today I manage 2 km, and I'm happy.

🦧 I'm such a prehistoric show-off. But I was underweight four months ago and I'm proud to consistently stick to my daily fitness workouts.
💯 Going from 64 kg to 97 kg is quite an achievement! Admittedly, my belly has grown disproportionately, but it's slowly returning to normal. Routine is very important – anyone who follows my posts closely will also know about the challenges of ADHD. But I've come up with a good system that helps me stay on track. I train different muscle groups every day, on a four-day schedule.
💫 There are more effective training approaches, but ultimately, it's more important that I have a method that works well for me. A training plan that makes more sense in theory but fails in practice due to my quirks doesn't get me anywhere. So I have a trick that makes my daily task seem small, but in reality, I'm actually pushed through it with much more intensity once I get started. This is how I've overcome every motivation gap in the last few months.
✅️ The fact that I have a completed workout noted in my calendar for each day fills me with pride and self-confidence.
♻️ Regular exercise is especially important now that I'm in the final stages of my 30s. Physical changes occur in my 40s, and I want to counteract them early. Add to that the fact that I'm fit, good-looking, and full of curiosity about where my pursuits will take me.

🦥🦋 I'm getting woolly and have giggling moths in my fur. What flowers do you like to eat the most?
💋🫖 Cherry blossoms can be eaten, or brewed into a drink. Or you can simply leave them alone. Those who consume too much could develop symptoms, similar to love, as some of the ingredients are metabolized into cyanide.
💝🍧 Love is the purest of all goals. But hunger is the most honest of all feelings.
🦣💕 I am just a dreamy creature half in love with the world and half nibbling on it.

☘️ In recent posts, I've shown you living fossils - the ginkgo and the magnolias. The term "living fossil" is actually avoided in science because it's very superficial. It essentially refers to morphological characteristics.
🧬 If we look deeper, all living things are simultaneously living fossils and then again not, because our characteristics go beyond our appearance.
🧠 Take my ADHD, a neurological abnormality, for example, and follow current knowledge, then ADHD is partly a living fossil: the genetic component is a relic from hunter-gatherer cultures, or even dates back much further. ADHD is therefore referred to as an evolutionary maladaptation because it has advantages in nomadic cultures but disadvantages in a sedentary lifestyle.
🏚⛺️ However, some futurologists assume that humans will return to a nomadic lifestyle once the resources to maintain our civilization are no longer available.
🪸 We carry characteristics that developed billions of years ago. But we have also evolved, and so we are all interwoven between past, present, and future.
🪱 Each of us, whether earthworm or rocket scientist, is equally wonderful and deserving of a future.
🌞 On the topic of future prospects: This March was the warmest in Europe since records began.

© File Usage Guidelines This post on megagroundsloth.de😅🤳✨️ Recently, a group of young adults walked past our front yard. They stopped at the carpet of Balkan anemones and wondered what kind of flowers they were. One pulled out his phone and proudly said, "Star aster", while a companion agreed: "Yes!" They were delighted at how easy it was to figure it out. I watched the scene from my window.
☝️🤓 However, asters have completely different leaves, grow in much sunnier locations, grow taller, and, most importantly, Aster amellus, the European Michaelmas daisy, bloom in late summer to fall, not now in April.
🧐🤳🌿 I, too, frequently use the internet to identify animal and plant species. Traditionally, I either have a hunch or figure out what it is by describing its characteristics. However, I know that there are often similar species, which is why I also take into account the season, local conditions, and frequency.
🤩🔎🪱 I'm often unsure about plants. My greatest fascination has always been creepy crawlies. But even with plants, I'm becoming more and more adept at narrowing down species. With all the cultivated hybrids, it's often not that easy. But you don't always need to know exactly - the fun lies in finding out.
🌱💫😊 There’s something kind of poetic about watching that moment from my window. Even if the conclusion wasn’t quite right, it shows how eager people are to connect with nature.

🦕☘️ The ginkgo, like the magnolia, is a living fossil.
The perspective from below upwards is not accidental. It always has something to do with wonder. With searching. With longing. Perhaps even with submission.
It is the gaze of the child, the believer, the questioner. It doesn't ask for control. It asks for meaning.
And when this person pauses, they themselves become part of this old system - not as a ruler, but as a listener. Perhaps this also reflects a silent desire to feel roots again.
It could also be an image of hope.
